Play project enjoys community support

A PLEA for the public to support Cumbernauld Theatre's community play project has met with a fantastic response.

Men, women and children aged 8-80 turned up for the public meeting and readings, part of the build-up to this exciting community event.

The organisers were thrilled by the response to the project, to take place this summer and which revives an old Cumbernauld tradition.

Kat Harrison, director for the community play said: "Auditions have been going really well, we've had so many talented people from aged eight right up to 80 years old.

"We've had lots of actors, musicians and people that would like to be involved backstage but we're looking for more even amazing and unusual talents and skills – so if anyone has an incredible party piece, then we want to hear from you!"

Now the focus is on recruiting people who have the non-acting performance skills needed for this spectacular production.

Jugglers, all kinds of dancers, gymnasts, BMX riders, skateboarders, circus performers and many more are all wanted to perform "party pieces" as part of the show.

The script is by Brian Miller, the well known local artist.

Audition and Behind The Scenes sign-up forms are available from the theatre.
