Raising the roof

LONG-awaited renovations at Condorrat Parish Church will soon be underway following a series of successful fundraising events.

In recent years the congregation has raised around £150,000 through various means, including the latest annual fashion show which was held at the Westerwood Hotel on Saturday.

Reverend Grace Saunders swapped her usual ceremonial attire for outfits provided by Perth-based dress agency Innovations, accompanied by several members of the congregation.

Margaret McFarlane of the fundraising committee (and occasional model) said: “The event raised £2300 which will be more than £3000 thanks to Gift Aid. This is an exciting time for us as work on the church refurbishment will begin in October and afterwards we will have brand new foundations, flooring, heating, seating and decor - it will be a brand new church.”

Services will be held in the church hall during the refit. The next fundraising event is the craft coffee morning on October 26 - a chance to pick up Christmas gifts.
