The main aim is to raise as much as possible for CHAS, while raising awareness too.

Fundraiser Laura Campbell said: “Rather than try to stage events throughout the week, we’re focusing our efforts on Thursday, May 14.

“We’re asking people to Take a Moment to think about CHAS by donating £1 – or as much as they can.

“A huge number of individuals and organisations have already lined up to support us and we hope your readers will get involved too.”

They are ably backed by around 900 volunteers who provide more than £1 million worth of support every year.

CHAS has 350 children on its books, referred by medical professionals or family and friends.

Rachel House opened in 1996, after four years of fundraising and Robin House opened in 2005.

It costs £11 million to retain the hospices, CHAS at Home and its charity shops each year.

Just 25 per cent of that (£2.75m) is funded by NHS Boards in Scotland. The remainder is raised via legacies, fundraising and supporters.

So Take A Moment today to help the charity continue its extraordinary work with families in Scotland.

Individuals and organisations can donate more if they text their donation – as 25p will be gift aided to CHAS.
