Things to do in the summer holiday

With the schools broken up for summer, bored kids might benefit from a few suggestions on fun things to do.

North Lanarkshire Leisure’s summer sports programme may well offer the solution.

Up until August 15, the Kids NL summer porgramme offers children the chance to try out a wide variety of sports and physical activities at a price of £1 per session.

These include unihoq, raquet sports, athletics, handball, basketball, dance, creative activities, giant games, parachute games, face painting, obstacle courses, volleyball, shinty, dodgeball, races and space hoppers.

Children in the P7/S1 age group (11-13) can also enjoy Tough Mudder sessions at Broadwood on Tuesdays, these are free to NL Leisure members or £2.30 for non-members.

Youngsters inspired by the World Cup (either the football or the samba) can attend a soccer and dance summer camp for 5-12 year olds at Broadwood. These are £36 per week, £8 per day or £4.50 per half day.

And all through the summer holidays, kids can take advantage of the popular “kids swim free” promotion at all NL pools.

The main venues for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth are Broadwood on 01236 341952, Kilsyth Swimming Pool on 01236 341954 and the Tryst Sports Centre on 01236 341960.
