Upshot ready to Rock the Basement

THIS Friday at the Basement Rocks sees the debut appearance of Ayrshire rock band Upshot.

Billed by gig promoter Jock Barnson as “one of the most exciting rock trios in the country”, the band specialises in heavy rock.

Upshot are in demand on the Scottish touring circuit and have played many venues around the west coast and Central Scotland. For example this month sees them take to the stage as one of the headline acts at the Alba West Custom Bike Show.

The band formed in 2010 with what Jock describes as “a steely determination to play the songs that other bands can’t.

“They work hard to entertain and never forget to have a laugh. Whether it’s the blindingly fast fingers of guitar maestro Boab Kidd, the unbelievable spectacle of drummer Kris Mulholland or the antics of sweating frontman/bass player Uncle Ernie, there is always a good night in store when Upshot come to town.”

The band’s setlist includes covers of some the greatest hits by Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Status Quo, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen and more.

Jock promises this Friday’s performance will keep up the high standard of music audiences have so far enjoyed at the Basement Rocks.
