US diner plan for Dalshannon

To be called Buddies, it’s a spin-off of a diner and takeaway already well-established in the south side of Glasgow, and is claimed set to offer Cumbernauld and Kilsyth diners “something completely different.”

A spokesman for the venture said: “We really can provide an authentic US dining experience, and will be bringing something high quality and totally authentic to an area which we think is under-provided in terms of quality places to eat out.”

He says the partnership involved in the project have just taken delivery of a major order for burgers and other food to supply the 90-strong crew of US singer Miley Cyrus, who is due to appear at the Hydro venue in Glasgow.

“We are the real deal, and will be offering the best burgers available anywhere - because we are the only people serving up hickory-smoked food cooked on the proper equipment.”

Launched a few years ago from a small takeaway venture, Buddies now boasts a huge and enthusiastic following via Facebook, and has earned glowing reviews.

The original Buddies has grown to four venues in less than a year, and tables at its 60-seater Pollokshaws venue are said to be in hot demand by authoritative eating and drinking guide The List.

Its current guide states: “In such a short time, Buddies has established something akin to a cultish following, and with four outlets, diners are now spoilt for choice”.

The Condorrat venue will be fully licensed, assuming there are no problems with licence transfer, and will also cater for outdoor diners in what’s reckoned an idea location.

The owners do not have a definite opening date, but expect it to be “within weeks”.
