Vote for Deone to make her dream come true

LOCAL beauty Deone Robertson is counting on the people of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth to help her become Miss Scotland.

The 22-year-old professional dance teacher, who lives in Cumbernauld Village, is one of 30 contestants to make it into the public vote phase of the Miss Scotland competition run by a Glasgow newspaper.

The public voting phase of the contest is now in full swing and those 30 girls have already been whittled down to just 16. On Friday the ten who will go through to June's finals in George Square will be named.

Deone, a member of the Scottish Rockettes cheerleaders who perform at the matches of pro basketball team the Glasgow Rocks, is hoping residents in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth will help her progress even further in the competition.

"They whittled the initial 1000-plus entries down to 60 who were invited to be interviewed by senior people from The Sun.

"I never expected to get this far, I entered last year and got nowhere.

"However, if I'm to get any further that means getting my friends and family, as well as everyone else from Cumbernauld who wants to see a local girl become Miss Scotland, to show their support and vote for me each day.

"I would also like to say a big thank you to everyone who has already helped me get this far and also to Superdrug Cumbernauld for all their backing. But with everyone's continued support hopefully I can make it to the final 10."

Proud mum Anne added: "My advice to her was to relax, be herself and just enjoy it because she's a really honest, genuine person and I knew that would shine through in the interviews."
