World first for southside artist Frank To

Southside artist Frank To presents a world first in Edinburgh this week with a depiction of Machiavelli’s The Prince.

To has depicted scenes from the book and, in another first, included text translated into Auld Scots.

He said: “From all the Machiavelli scholars I have consulted, none have found any records of any other artist having depicted The Prince.

“In this latest exhibition, I’m exploring the dark concept of art, though disguised in an innocent, Machiavellian way.”

To’s work goes on display at The Leith Gallery on Saturday (April 4), in a joint exhibition with Jacqueline Marr, called Ying and Yang.
