Construction work on retail park is almost ready to start

Cumbernauld North councillor Alan Masterton has received assurances the £20m retail park in Westfield is still going ahead '“ and construction work could start imminently.

L&S Broadwood is currently undertaking groundworks at the site and construction will begin once they are completed.

Councillor Masterton said: “I’ve had a number of constituents in touch recently asking if there is any further progress on the planned retail development for Westfield Road, next to Broadwood Stadium.

“The planning department at North Lanarkshire Council informed me that the developer has been working to clear off the pre-start conditions that were attached to the planning permission, the last part of that is the site investigation report.

“All being well with the site investigation, I understand that the developers are keen to begin work on-site before the end of the month.”

M&S Simply Food, Aldi and Home Bargains have been lined up as anchor tenants for the seven unit shopping parade.
