Precise details are not yet available but planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore has approached North Lanarkshire Council on behalf of the club and Hallam Land Management with a view to submitting a detailed planning application for a housing development and related infrastructure in future.Cumbernauld and Kilsyth MSP Jamie Hepburn said: ”This does not represent a planning application in itself but instead is an indication that they intend to submit an application in the future. However the area identified is significant and if development were to happen there it could be that a substantial number of houses might be built.“Clearly we need more family homes locally, but critically they have to be located in such a fashion that won’t cause significant strain on local infrastructure. I have concerns about this in the case of this location.“Any application that emerges from this process has to include a public consultation process prior to submission. Once the planning application has been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council there is a further opportunity to submit comments about or objections to the development.“The developer has indicated that their community engagement website will go live at some point in April. At this point, members of the public will be able to engage with this process by live interaction with the developer. I will share more information about this aspect when the developer makes it available.”Barton Willmore planning director Colin Lavety said: “Hallam Land Management Ltd and Dullatur Golf Club have submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) ahead of a planning application for residential development on land at Dullatur Golf Club, Cumbernauld.“The proposed site forms part of one of the two existing courses at Dullatur. The proposal will deliver much-needed new family housing (including affordable housing) as well as delivering significant economic and other benefits to the local area including construction jobs. It will also assist Dullatur Golf Club in continuing to invest in improving their golf offering and other facilities actively used by the local community.”
