NL leisure pools and gyms will remain in lockdown

Pools and gyms have been given the green light to open in Scotland today - but municipal facilities in North Lanarkshire will not be joining them.

A spokesperson for Culture and Leisure NL explained: “The Scottish Government have agreed that gyms, swimming pools and fitness studios will be able to reopen with appropriate safety measures from Monday, August 31.

“Following this announcement, we are working hard in the background with the council and all our partners to ensure all relevant safety measures and procedures are in place and in line with the most up to date government advice.

“The safety of our staff and customers is of the highest importance and this is at the forefront of our minds when preparing to open our doors again. We do not want to open until we are absolutely ready to do so.

“We thank our customers for their continued patience and we will confirm opening dates and full details as soon as possible.”
