The pair were recently taken on as apprentice joiners by Cruden Building and Renewals at two Sanctuary Cumbernauld sites.

They are helping Cruden build ten flats in Allanfauld Road – once the site of dilapidated garages – plus another 39 flats in Hume Road on the site of the former Ochilview nursing home.

The Allanfauld Road properties will be the next to complete after the 96 flats at nearby Newlands Place.

Paul Boland, human resources manager at Cruden, said: “We have been impressed by the work ethic and enthusiasm of both as they help build new, affordable Sanctuary housing in Cumbernauld.”

Roddy Macdonald, Sanctuary’s head of development for Scotland, said: “The creation of employment and training opportunities for young people is key for Sanctuary.

“Kieran and Nicole are among the many apprentices being given an opportunity thanks to Sanctuary’s build programme.”
