Strike threat at Cumbernauld tax office

Staff at one of Cumbernauld’s biggest employers, the Inland Revenue, could soon be out on strike once again as they are currently balloting for industrial action.

The union and the government are in dispute over various changes to services , pay and conditions. The latest strike ballot has been trigged by an announcement that work in HMRC post rooms will be outsourced to a private company.

A local spokesperson said: “Locally we will use every avenue possible to protect all of our members as we expect this to be the likely prospect of events for all of us irrespective of whichever ‘business head’ we work under.”
