Top honours for travel firm

A Cumbernauld travel firm which specialises in holidays for people with disabilities has won the Scottish title of a UK-wide business innovation contest.

Altogether Travel Ltd, whose founder Stephen Chalmers spent 25 years in the care industry, has been named Best Small Business in Scotland by the Federation of Small Businesses.

Mr Chalmers said: “We specialise in accompanying older and frail adults as well as individuals with a learning or other disability to take a holiday in Britain or abroad with one of our experienced travel escorts.

“Nobody else offers the type of holiday packages we provide and with over ninety per cent of our customers returning, means we are doing something right.”

Now the company, which has already been named a finalist in two other award schemes this year, has the chance to win the UK title and a £10,000 prize.
