Youth jobs schemes working

A ground-breaking programme to get young unemployed people into work or training has exceeded all expectations.

New figures revealed at the council’s regeneration and infrastructure committee show that by April 1, this year, 1,836 people had been supported into work through the Youth Investment Programme - 10 per cent more than target.

The council is also playing its part through paid work experience opportunities, NLC Youth Placement and NLC Graduate Features.
