Five-year-old Caylie McKenzie was left raging after spotting someone had thrown a quilt in the Garrel Burn near Backbrae Street and decided to take a stand.

She got her mum Cheryl Kennedy to film her emotional plea for the world to be nicer to animals which has so far been viewed more than 30,000 times since last week.

Caylie, who has her own Facebook group ‘Caylie McKenzie saving our animals and planet, said: “Look what the idiots have done. They’re making everything so badly damaged.

“Every animal could get killed by this idiot thing. When idiots do this, they can get seriously damaged and seriously in trouble.

“They can also get the animals really in trouble because they can get damaged with all this. “Their heads get stuck in things and also their heads in plastic and they can die.

“So that’s why I’m trying to keep my little animals safe. I want idiots to stop.

“I’m showing this to the whole world so please stop idiots. Everyone keeps destroying their homes, they won’t have anywhere to live.

“And that’s why I like keeping animals safe so I want you to be really kind to animals.”

Proving how much she cares for animals on Caylie today (Monday) rescued a young collared dove that had suffered a spinal injury in an attack by a magpie.

With Cheryl’s help, she put the stricken bird in a box and called the Scottish SPCA.
