New hope for jobs

This week sees a major programme of events aimed at helping young people find their way into work and training to develop a career.

While to many ‘apprenticeships’ mean construction trades, mechanics or engineering, and there is still great demand in those areas, there are now opportunities in everything from customer service and cooking to early years and horticulture.

Next week is the fourth annual Scottish Apprenticeship Week May 19-24) and North Lanarkshire’s Working is highlighting the benefits that can be gained by businesses, as well as young unemployed residents by taking up one of these opportunities.
