Police shed light on Cumbernauld Village incident

Police have confirmed that a heightened police presence in Cumbernauld Village stems from the fact that a man has died at an address in Springfield Road.

Residents have seen a number of officers at the site since the middle of last week. The premises was partially cordoned off in a communal bin area – sparking fears that a serious incident had taken place.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland has now confirmed: “Officers were called to a property on Springfield Road in Cumbernauld around 11pm on Wednesday June 9 following a concern for person call by a member of the public. On arrival, officers found the body of a 30 year-old man within. The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.”
