St Ninian's twins hit a treble

Eastwood's St Ninian's High teachers are seeing treble this week '“ after three sets of twins managed to land five straight 'A' Highers.

Meanwhile, fourth year pupil Zaynab Sarguroh and fifth year Asma Sarguroh achieved an incredible 15 A’s between them.

The extraordinary results were among the brightest highlights of another record-breaking exam year for East Ren schools.

Asma (17) said: “I knew my sister would do really well so I really wanted to do well too. ”

She got six Higher As and plans to pursue a career in neuroscience. Zaynab got nine As at National 5 and will now go on to complete six Highers next year, while also taking on a Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering.

She said: “I was extremely happy when I found out we had both got all As – so it’s fantastic.”

Emma and Vivien McAinsh (17), Joseph and Michael Lowrie (17) and Roisin and Niamh Kelly (16) were delighted to get top marks across the board. Niamh said: “I got my text message bang on eight this morning, and I was too worried to open it. When I did open it, though, I was so delighted – I couldn’t believe it.”

Sister Roisin added: “I didn’t get my message until much later in the day so it made it much more nerve-wracking and my sister was reassuring me that I would have got the same as her.

“I had to work so hard for these results but it’s all been worth it in the end.”

Vivien said: “I really didn’t think I was going to get five As but I’m really happy and it shows all the hard work has paid off.

“It was really difficult waiting for the results because if one of us had done better than the other it would have been really awkward.”

Emma added: “We both got the text at the same time but I was too scared to open mine. Vivien opened hers first and then ran through to my room and once I had looked at my results we started celebrating.”

Joseph said: “I was hoping for five As to get into medicine but whatever I had got I would have been happy with because I had worked as hard as I could.” Michael added: “We didn’t know what each other had got so it was a bit nervous in our house.”
