Cash from Celtic Foundation and union strengthens Cumbernauld lifeline

And that’s because two civic-minded organisations have stepped forward to help longer-term to cover the cost of the vital supplies being delivered across town.

The Celtic Foundation parted with £2500 and Unite handed over £700 - to bolster a donation of £300 they had made earlier during the pandemic.

Cumbernauld Resilience’s Tony Murphy said: “Everyone at Cumbernauld Resilience Group would like to thank the Celtic foundation and the local Mears branch of Unite the Union for their support which has gone towards purchasing much needed food supplies.

“We are fortunate to have received fantastic support from a number of organisations and individuals.

“This has allowed our volunteers to provide more than 50,000 meals and other essentials to local people over the past 14 weeks.

“Although some restrictions are being eased, this is still a very difficult time for a lot of people.

“So we remain committed to doing what we can to help those in need”.
