Cumbernauld Resilience keeps on providing lifeline

Cumbernauld Resilience Group has now delivered more than 5000 meals to residents over the course of a fortnight.

The determined band of volunteers have effectively served up a lifeline for the town’s residents who are self-isolating as lockdown enters its third week.

Aside from delivering much needed food parcels members have pitched in to assist those in an impressive array of other ways

Helpers have arranged for ‘company calls’ for people isolating alone and even helping an elderly resident access and set up a television.

Thanking all those who have assisted to-date, Councillor Gillian Fannan said: “We have been overwhelmed by the way in which the local community has rallied round to help those in need.

“We’d also like to thank Margaret Riley and her team at CACE who we are passing referrals to us for befriending calls to elderly residents.

“This is a difficult time for everyone however our town’s community spirit is truly uplifting.”
