Update for anglers after key decision made over River Clyde

Anglers who enjoy a spot of fishing in the River Clyde must temporarily put an end to their hobby.

The directors of the United Clyde Angling Protective Association has now stated that its fishery would be closed to all angling for the forseeable future.

A spokesperson said: “We feel that these measures are required to protect the welfare and health of our anglers, land owners, river wardens and bailiffs.

“We hope that this will be a short term restriction and that anglers understand the need for the closure.

“Mid Clyde Angling Association and Lamington Angling Improvement Association have been quick to follow suit. All permit outlets have been advised not to sell permits until further notice.”
