Course deals with lifeafter breast cancer

Support charity Breast Cancer Care is working in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire to provide support for people facing the challenge of finding a “new normal” after breast cancer.

And it is keen to make its expertise available to Cumbernauld and Kilsyth people.

A free four week course, Moving forward: living with and beyond breast cancer, is starting on Wednesday, October 1 at Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton from 10am - 1pm.

It will provide information, support and professional guidance on how to cope with and adjust to life after treatment.

Topics covered will include adjusting and adapting after a breast cancer diagnosis, managing the ongoing side effects of treatment and breast awareness after surgery.

Linsey Rodgers, Services Coordinator with Breast Cancer Care Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be providing our Moving Forward course in Hamilton in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire.

“We understand the need for support doesn’t end when treatment finishes and know that people can often be left with many unanswered questions.

“This course will cover a range of topics and will be an invaluable service for people affected by cancer to help them approach life after treatment with more confidence.

“There are 15 places on each course and we ask that people are able to attend all three sessions of the course due to high demand.”
