Good response to food drive

A group of local volunteers held a weekend food drive which saw almost 300 bags of shopping delievered to local food banks.

Kilsyth Community Food Bank and Cornerstone House of Bread benefited from widespread community support thanks to the efforts of a small team of local volunteers who spent a total of four hours on Friday and Saturday collecting donations at the St. Mungo’s steps in Cumbernauld and at Craigmarloch Tesco.

One of the team, Adam Smith, said: “This was the first time we’ve done this and the response was very good, we’re now hoping to hold a much bigger food drive in the run-up to Christmas.”

The food banks in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth also accept donations on a regular basis. Learn more at www.cornerstone-house.org.uk/ or http://www.kilsythcommunityfoodbank.com/.
