Kilsyth musician is on song to support NHS workers

A Kilsyth musician has recorded a cover of the Coldplay song Us Against the World to raise funds for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

Paul Martin normally runs to raise money for various charities, but with that made being and impossibility due to lockdown he decided to use his talents as a singer and keyboardist.

With the help of his brother Jon Gerrard on backing vocals and guitar, Paul recorded the track and made an emotional video which he posted on Youtube and linked to a JustGiving page with a target of £500.

He said: “Glasgow has given me so much as a musician over the years and the NHS has also been there through major crises in my life regarding my children so I would like to give something back.

“Glasgow and Inverclyde in particular have been hit badly by Covid-19 and that is the reason I am hoping people you will through enjoying my video raise some money for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Boundaries.

“I normally run hills for a number of charities, but I have to say I found trying to translate and edit what was in my heart and head onto actual film was far more daunting than The Devils Staircase in Glencoe.

“I am no Steven Spielberg, but I hope those who watch my video will be left feeling as emotional as I was producing it, and they will feel is worth a donation no matter how large or small.

“Stay safe everyone and lets hope we emerge from this nightmare and our lives get back to some sort of normality in whichever way that is sometime soon.”
