Out of hours consultation

PROPOSALS to provide a safe and high-quality Lanarkshire GP Out Of Hours Service will be scrutinised by patients, carers and health staff in November.

NHS Lanarkshire is holding a stakeholder option appraisal event on Tuesday, November 4, to consider how best to provide the service, which is for urgent assessment and treatment at the evenings and weekends when GP practices are closed.

NHS Lanarkshire’s Out Of Hours Service is for people who need urgent medical care and cannot wait until their GP surgery is open. The service can be accessed by calling NHS 24 on 111.

An appointment may then be arranged at one of the Out Of Hours Centres. The main ones in Lanarkshire are at Wishaw Genera, Monklands and Hairmyres hospitals, with a satellite at Central Health Centre in Cumbernauld.
