Well takes over atMain Street chemist

Kilsyth’s MSP helped launch what amounts to a new pharmacy in town, following the relaunch of the former Co-operative outlet on Main Street.

Jamie Hepburn welcomed the opening of the new Well branch in Kilsyth, as part of a move involving nine pharmacies in and around Glasgow.

As a service certain to be used on a daily basis by hundreds of local customers the familiar outlet is guaranteed to be busy this week with people eager to see what the new format has to offer.

Our aim is to be part of the fabric of Kilsyth’s community and we’re overjoyed we were able to celebrate with the local MSP.”

New owners the Bestway Group are said to have invested £200m on the transition to the Well format from the former Co-op sites.

Hundreds more branches across the UK will follow the lead set in Glasgow and Kilsyth in months to come.

Well is the new name for the Co-operative Pharmacy, which has been a household name across Britain since 1945.

It is now the UK’s biggest independent pharmacy chain, following last year’s £620 million acquisition from the Co-operative Group by Bestway Group.

As well as dispensing prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines, Well pharmacists offer confidential advice and products for customer’s wellbeing.
