This costs £4.50/£4 for Passport to Leisure card holders. Another music course, this time for children and again suitable for any level of talent or experience, will be held in Condorrat Library every Monday from 5pm until 6pm.

The popular and long-running children’s keyboard classes welcome offer expert, friendly tuition and are ideal for absolute beginners or those with a little more experience. The ten-week course costs £40, payable in two instalments. Other forms of art are explored in the Wednesday evening (4pm-5.30pm) Visual Art and Craft classes for children aged 7 and up. These offer drawing, painting and craftwork and cost £4.50 per session, which covers all materials.

Following the success of a North Lanarkshire Council Children’s Theatre production of Rebecca Riding Hood at St Patrick’s Primary School, the council is now looking for more children to sign up for drama classes. Children as young as five entertained a sell out audience with their portrayals of fairy tale characters such as the Three Little Pigs and the witch from Hansel and Gretel, encountered on Rebecca’s journey through the woods to visit her granny. A new series of drama classes for children is now starting up from Tuesday, August 23. In a change from the previous programme, the venue and times will now be Burngreen Community Centre from 5.30-6.30pm for ages 5-8 and 6.45-7.45pm for ages 9-15. NLC drama development officer Lisa Mathieson said: “It’s amazing how quickly the children learn new skills and become very involved in their drama classes. We encourage them to use their imagination to create stories around the drama games we use to teach them each week. It’s great fun!”

Classes cost £28 for a block of 9 weeks and advance booking is highly recommended. For further information on any of these actitvities or to book places, call 01236 812200 or visit www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/artsinaction.
