Big boy band dreams for Condorrat singer

A TALENTED Condorrat singer has been selected for a boy band that hopes to be Scotland’s answer to One Direction.

James McElvar will make up one fifth of the new band Rewind, which has been formed by music industry big wigs, who hope to create the biggest group to ever come out of Scotland.

The 19-year-old, who was a pupil at St Maurice’s High. has been singing since school, and he decided to audition for the group back in November after he spotted an advert on Facebook.

He impressed judges with his renditions of a previously unrecorded song and a One Direction track, and was almost immediately told he was in the band.

James said: “I immediately recognised one of the names in the advert for the boyband, and that was Ian Curnow.

“That is why I decided to apply as he has worked with big names.”
