Choir announces 2013 dates and new CD

CUMBERNAULD’S musical calendar wouldn’t be the same without Cumbernauld Male Voice Choir’s annual concert – and the dates have just been announced for this year’s extravaganza.

The choir begins a three night run will start on Thursday, May 7, at New Town Hall at 7.30pm and the itinerary boasts something to suit all tastes.

Committee member Iain Morrison said: “There will be standard choral pieces,show songs and a selection of old Scottish favourites. So, in the words of our compere Murdo Fletcher ‘join in, take your shoes off and hum along with us!’

“The concerts as always, the culmination of a year of hard work and preparation by the choir and this year has been particularly busy for us, especially as we have been busy recording our latest CD with Cumbernauld College music students called Say It With A Song,’’he added.

However, the music and the magic will continue with a second event which promises to delight mums and dads across the town.

For the choir will yet again team up with local schoolchildren at another concert in Kildrum Parish Church on Thursday, May 16.

Iain said: “This will involve choirs from Baird Memorial, Cumbernauld, Kildrum, Carbrain and Whitelees Primary. Another evening of superb young talent awaits us and all proceeds will go to a charity chosen by the primary schools.’’
