Corbies to host two gigs this weekend

Top tribute act Itchycoo Park are coming back to the Twa Corbies this Friday. By public demand they are the band most frequently appearing at Corbies,

Local music promoter Jock Barnson said: “With such a huge repertoire of material to choose from, you never get the same set twice. Top quality musicianship, along with superb close harmony vocals, have made Itchycoo Park the most respected band in Scotland reviving the super sounds of the Swinging Sixties. Featuring Ronnie Davidson on guitar, vocals and keyboards, Jim Logie on bass guitar, vocals and keyboards, John McNaught on drums, percussion, vocals and Les More on guitar and vocals, Itchycoo Park have flown the flag for Scotland as far afield as Turkey, the USA and even the famous cavern club in Liverpool.”

Doors open 8pm and early arrival is recommended. Door charge is £3.

Jock also recently announced that he has set up a series of Saturday night benefit concerts for Help for Heroes, which supports former service personnel. The first of these, taking place this Saturday, sees the Corbies welcome the David May band with local guest vocalist Billy Hall.

Edinburgh-based guitarist David May played with various high profile bands over the last 25 years, and he recently released a CD album, entitled Lone Wolf.

Jock Barnson added: “David was the first person to step forward and offer to do a gig for Help for Heroes and is really looking forward to collaborating with local singer Billy Hall. In my opinion Billy Hall is one of the best singers around, having performed over many years with some great bands,

“The concert theme is ‘the guitar greats’ so material by Hendrix, Santana, Gary Moore, Pink Floyd and Rory Gallagher will be highlighted, along with a not to Zal Cleminson of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band and Mich Ronson of David Bowi’s Spiders from Mars.

“This will be a unique one-off show, sponsored by Easi Communications of Stirling. There will also be some great prizes in the raffle.”

The door charge for this concert is £4 and doors open at 8pm.
