Country Dance Society celebrates 60 years

The Lanark branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society has celebrated its 60th birthday in style.

Members enjoyed a birthday cake followed by a dance and supper at the society’s base at Robert Owen Primary School.

It was a fantastic night for all concerned with plenty of traditional tunes to enjoy.

Branch secretary Janet Tomison was delighted with the event.

She said: “It was a really enjoyable evening for everyone.

“I have been a member for over 20 years and I would say that the Lanark branch is thriving.

“We have over 30 members and the enjoyment is still there and it’s great exercise mentally and physically.”
