Cumbernauld trumpet player Grant poised to play in Kilsyth

LOCAL trumpet player and Cumbernauld High School teacher Grant Golding, along with organist Matt Edwards, are to make a return visit to Burns and Old Church in Kilsyth, where their highly acclaimed first CD was recorded last summer.

The concert, on Friday, July 1, will feature music from across the centuries including music from the first CD and the duo’s latest charity recording “Reflection” which is currently only available online.

Grant, a masters graduate in performance of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, has performed as a soloist throughout the world.

As a student at the RSAMD, he was featured with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Scottish Opera, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Dunedin Consort and is in high demand as a teacher and performer throughout the country. He is also the recipient of the Countess of Munster Musical Trust Award.

Matt, an honours graduate of the Open University, gained his place in the history books in 1998 when he became the youngest cathedral director of music in the UK at the age of just 21. He has performed as an accompanist and soloist for the BBC, and holds the position of Director of Music at the world famous Thomas Coats Memorial Church in Paisley.

Performances at home and abroad have included venues as far afield as Norway, Denmark, Germany, United Arab Emirates and across the pond to the USA. Home performances have involved such prestigious venues as the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, St. Giles Cripplegate, the cathedrals of York, Peterborough, Guildford, Lincoln, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Winchester and venues closer to home such as the famous Kelvingrove Art Gallery, and churches throughout the UK.

The July 1 event starts at 7.30 pm and admission is £5 with under-16s free.
