It is estimated that the town will have an estimated 1800 guests staying at locations like the Westerwood Hotel and the Premier Inn plus the Travelodge.

And the Antonine Centre will be opening late as a result.

TK Maxx manager Tommy McEwan said:“Every single hotel in and around here is booked to capacity. At night, many guests will be floating about Cumbernauld.

“I think this a massive opportunity to take some extra cash and show how commercial we are.

“Every shopping centre around Glasgow is trading late, so why don’t we?’’

The shopping centre is also sure to attract extra trade when the Queen’s Baton Relay takes place outside it on Monday, June 23.
