Doune festival is on the up

The Doune the Rabbit Hole Music Festival will take place between August 24 and 26 in Duncarron Fort.

The event was previously held in Doune near Dunblane in Stirlingshire but was forced to find a new location because of a planned housing development in its hometown.

Described as a small scale, not-for-profit and family friendly festival of music, spoken word and arts, Doune the Rabbit Hole has taken place for the past two year. The new location, Duncarron Fort, is situated in woods next to a loch in the Carron Valley, between Kilsyth and Fintry.

The site is a recreation of an early medieval motte-and-bailey fort, built as an historical attraction by a group called The Clanranald Trust.

Doune the Rabbit Hole will welcome an array of diverse Scottish and international performers including headliners King Creosote, The Phantom Band, Hidden Orchestra and Scottish Album of the Year winners Aidan Moffat and Bill Wells.

Alongside them are musicians like Davey Horne, Raoul Duke and Soul Remover who will be performing with more than 150 other acts over the weekend.

The festival hopes to raise money for young and disadvantaged people to learn creative skills like playing instruments, painting and creative writing.
