Forthcoming productions at Cumbernauld Theatre

COMING up at Cumbernauld Theatre this week, we have the play My Romantic History and also a night of swinging 1960s tunes.

My Romantic History started life as a Radio 4 play by DC Jackson from Stewarton. It has become a worldwide hit, with productions all over Europe and Australia, with the Scottish version coming to town on Friday.

Borderline Theatre Company present their take on DC Jackson’s reworked script, which he expanded and adapted for the stage following excellent reviews of the original broadcast.

The stage version was first produced by Bush Theatre, Birmingham Rep and Sheffield Theatre. It enjoyed award-winning success at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, and was subsequently picked up by numerous international theatre producers.

Writer DC Jackson said of this international acclaim: “I am really pleased audiences are enjoying it and seem to be relating it to their own romantic past.

“It doesn’t matter whether it is Birmingham, Belgrade or Berlin there are parts of the show that every audience seems to love and there are definitely things that make the women roar with laughter while the men squirm and vice versa.”

Tickets for My Romantic History are priced £5-£9.

And on Thursday, October 14, audiences will be entertained by the Sixties sounds of Heartbeat, who received a standing ovation when they last played Cumbernauld Theatre two years ago. Since then, the band have been touring around the UK and working on their second album.
