Ghost stories sets up novel idea

MAKING up ghost stories with her grandkids has helped a Cumbernauld woman write a novel which has become an internet hit.

Rosemary Showell (63), of Craigmarloch, has been inundated with rave reviews for her self-published debut Lanshoud. The mum-of-three, who has nine grandchildren, only started writing when she retired from her nursing career.

She left her post as team leader at the Central Health Centre in Cumbernauld to become a full time nanny to her grandchildren.

She explained: “I retired at the earliest opportunity to help out with my grandchildren. My daughter is a GP in Aberdeen and she has four boys.

“I used to walk through Eury House in Stonehaven with the children and I would make up stories on the wild hunt history because the setting seemed perfect for it.”

Rosemary, who lives with husband Arthur, decided to put pen to paper as a way of keeping her mind active while looking after the children.
