Kids give it some welly

EVEN the heavy rain couldn’t dampen these budding young gardeners’ spirits as they tended to the wild flower meadow next to Burngreen Recreational Ground.

The green-fingered youngsters are all pupils at St Patrick’s Nursery and could hardly contain their excitement at getting to plant wild flowers and help spruce up the area.

Cheryl Anderson, treasurer of Friends of Burngreen Park and a parent of a child at the nursery, organised the event.

She said: “We just wanted to get the kids more involved and thought it would be a lot of fun for the nursery children to get to plant the flowers.

“They absolutely loved it, the rain didn’t stop them – they were out with their wellies on. They were all asking on the way back when they would get to do it again so we’ll hopefully arrange another day for them at some point.”
