Life of Brian

THE life and work of local artist and writer Brian Miller is on course to be celebrated at Cumbernauld Theatre later this month.

Brian, who died aged 76 last August, was heavily involved in setting up the theatre, even helping to build it, and also wrote numerous plays which have featured thousands of local people over the years.

During the 1960s and 1970s he also worked as Cumbernauld Development Corporation’s resident artist and created many of the scultpures and murals, some of which can still be found in Cumbernauld to this day.

And now a special, informal event at Cumbernauld Theatre will feature readings of Brian’s plays and showcase some of his artwork. The event, on Saturday, January 28 at 7.30pm, is free, with donations going to Strathcarron Hospice and MacMillan Nurses.
