Lindsay has sights set on slimming title

WESTERWOOD woman Lindsay Shorthouse has made the shortlist for a national slimming contest.

Lindsay (20), dropped more than four stone and four dress sizes after she was sick of viewing herself as the “fat friend”. The decision came while she was looking through holiday photos from last year. And now she is in the running for the Scottish Slimmers Slimmer of the Year award, to be decided next week.

“I was embarrassed by how I looked,” said the RBS customer advisor, “and that took away all of the fun we had had.”

Lindsay was aware she was developing a weight issue.

“My clothes were getting tighter and tighter and I was feeling more and more uncomfortable. I wasn’t even 21 but I felt old.”

The last straw was when she failed the fitness test to join the police. But getting help giving the takeaways and fizzy drinks the boot have paid off as she is much happier with herself and more confident.

“I have been promoted at work, thanks to my new confident outlook, so my career really is taking off now!”
