N & C Third Degree

In the spotlight this week is Scott Johnson, Kilsyth Community Council

1. What do you love about Kilsyth?

I love Kilsyth because of people; my friends, my colleagues in the community council, my family and the familiar faces that give a sense of belonging. I am a sentimentalist and hold dear the memories of the town in which I grew up.

2. If you were stuck on a desert island, what three things would you take with you?

Water, food and a helicopter!

4. What’s your ideal holiday destination?

A long sea voyage on a Cunard Liner or the helicopter transfer into Monaco for a long weekend

5. What is your favourite song?

Rule Britannia by James Thomson in 1763 – especially when performed at events attended by my Scottish National Party colleagues.

6. Name three people dead or alive you would invite to a dinner party?

Sir Winston Churchill, Fred Dibnah MBE and Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

7. What modern day gadget could you not live without?

My car. In fairness, I may have been able to live without it had it not been for Dr Richard Beeching and his “The Reshaping of British Railways”, report in 1963.

8. What’s the first thing you would grab in a fire?

My wallet – I believe if you have at least one credit card – all the rest can be replaced.

9. What is your favourite movie?

Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window, starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly – the microcosm of life in a Greenwich Village apartment block appeals every time I visit New York.

10. What motto do you live your life by?

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
