Tipping its hat to the city’s close ties and associations with American roots music and heritage, ‘No Mean City’ uniquely brings together Scotland’s major concert promoters – Regular Music, DF Concerts, PCL and Academy Music Group’s promoting division, Academy Events, to showcase the best of and upcoming Americana artists from across the globe.
O2 ABC Glasgow general manager Joe Splain said: “As a city, Glasgow has so much to offer, we’re lucky enough to be immersed in such a plethora of unique musical styles, and Americana and new country have really pushed through in recent years.
“2012 saw us host our second festival, joining forces with some of Glasgow’s most popular venues and promoters.

Mark Mackie, director at Regular Music, said: “For a festival which is still developing, the programme of No Mean City in 2013 is exceptional.
“It features an enviable line-up of some of the finest Americana artists in the world, from icons like Kris Kristofferson to the fresh and exciting groups like The Milk Carton Kids or The Barr Brothers. The O2 ABC does a fantastic job in being the catalyst and focal point that makes it happen.”
‘No Mean City 2013’ will take music fans on a journey through the many sub-genres of Americana music with performances from fresh talent including Junip (September 15) who have recently been making waves within the genre, all-female alt country group The Be Good Tanyas (September 5) and a highly-anticipated performance from American alt-rockers Eels (September 3).
