We’ve always been a nation of DIY enthusiasts – and here in Glasgow, it’s no different. According to industry market reporters Mintel, 55 per cent of us in the UK were now looking to make home improvements than before covid.

Most of us spent a lot of time at home during the lockdown and post-pandemic many more people have continued to do more home working.

Whether you’re mowing the grass at the back of your tenement flat or putting up a new decking and outdoor seating area at the end of the garden in your West End house, most of us find we could use some electricity outdoors – and that usually means trailing cables across the house and garden.

Even working from home means there are times we’d love to take the laptop outdoors and catch a bit of fresh air during the working day – but sometimes it’s just too much hassle to try to trail leads out for the chance of a bit of outdoor work time.

Well, help is at hand for the DIY enthusiast fed up with trailing wires, or chargeable power tools that don’t have enough oomph to tackle the tough jobs, or that run out of juice at the vital moment.

A solar-powered generator is what you need.

Let the sun give you power!

If you want reliable power, without using the world’s precious resources, solar-powered generators are the perfect choice.

And industry-specialists Jackery has just launched the new Solar Generator 2000 Plus, which has all the functionality you need to power up any device you require – whether it’s for DIY, gardening, outdoor working or entertaining.

A Portable Power Station

Jackery started in California in 2012, founded by a former Apple engineer has been a pioneer of the solar generator industry since 2018. It makes solar-powered generators used by campers, music festival-goers and even supplies emergency power to disaster zones around the world. Jackery produces a wide range of portable generators for those looking for a safe, environmentally friendly source of energy in the home or on the move.

And you’re always in control thanks to the Jackery App which gives you the power to control it remotely providing you have a Bluetooth or WiFi connection.

Better performance

The new Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus can be recharged quickly and has a longer-lasting battery life. It uses six Jackery Solar Saga 200 solar panels to soak up the sun’s energy, and with the latest technology built-in, you don’t need bright sunlight to have the cells fully charged within just over two hours.

Ultra-durable batteries mean the Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Plus will last up to 10 years, and the battery level can still be at 70 per cent, even after 4,000 charges. It has noiseless charging so won’t disturb the neighbours – although they can’t promise the same for your power tools! – and you can add on an extra battery pack for those really big build jobs when running out of power is just not an option.

World-class

Although it began in the US, Jackery has expanded across Europe – including the UK. Since it started making solar-powered generators in 2018 it has sold more than three million across the globe – and is committed to continuing to bring out products which provide environmentally-friendly products so we can all enjoy the great outdoors, without harming it.

Jackery has been given carbon footprint verification from TÜV SÜD, an internationally recognised third-party certification organisation, for two solar panel products and seven portable power products, which is a first for the solar generator industry. The carbon footprint results of Jackery's products have achieved the international standard ISO 14067:2018, a standard that defines the requirements necessary for organisations to qualify the carbon footprint of their products.

Looking after the world

The black-footed ferret has cause to thank Jackery too after they partnered with the world’s leading conservation organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF ) to protect the ferrets – one of North America’s most endangered mammals.

The company has also supported the National Forest Foundation to plant 10,000 trees in the US, helped a scheme to protect 10 square kilometres of forest in Germany and participated in a tree planting project in Japan to support environmental protection.
