Residents can go in search of a badger

Countryside rangers are offering residents the opportunity to go in search of an elusive local animal.

Palacerigg Country Park near Cumbernauld is home to a number of badgers but as they are nocturnal and difficult to find, most people would never see one.

North Lanarkshire Council, which runs the park, is holding a free badger walk on Wednesday, June 19, at 7.45pm.

The walk begins at the park visitor centre. Anyone taking part in advised to dress for the weather and avoid clothes that rustle and may disturb the animals.
