This week turns frosty

It will turn colder this week as a deep depression causes strong winds and wet weather but will be pushed away as high pressure builds up over the UK dragging Arctic air south as we get nearer to the weekend.

One consolation is that we will get some nice sunny days but the down side is that we will have icy mornings and low humidity causing frizzy hair and dry skin. It doesn’t last long though as temperatures get back above freezing next week.

Today will start with rain before sunrise but it should clear away by 8 a.m.. It will be very windy with a strong northerly wind that will make daytime temperatures of around 7c feel more like 1c and could gust to 40mph in the afternoon. The cloud and wind should keep temperatures above freezing during the night.

Thursday will start cloudy but sunny spells will increase as the day progresses. The temperature will climb to between 6 and 7c but as the sun sets, temperatures will fall to around 2c.

There will be ground frost on Friday. In places that are sheltered from the sun it will remain icy so beware on untreated country roads. The daytime temperature will only be around 3c but there will be lots of sun.

Saturday will be cold and have less sun, but Sunday will be a lovely sunny day with no wind and 4c. It will be icy in the mornings.
