Gordon Bell discovered the forgotten manuscript for children’s book ‘Pre-Race Tensions’ on a shelf earlier this year.
He sent it to several London publishers but, after several contacted him asking for him to make a sizable financial contribution up-front, he decided to self-publish.

He said: “Pre-Race Tensions tells how three young campers discover a kidnapped Grand Prix racing driver days before a crucial race.
“It encourages young people to read and improve their literacy skills and also includes a number of insets describing Grand Prix drivers past and present together with some interesting illustrations.”
Copies of the book, targeted at ages 10-14 and priced at £2.99, are available from the Hub Cafe in Bishopbriggs, Caulders Garden Centre in Kirkintilloch and R.A. Cant & Sons in Kilsyth.
