New Cumbernauld charity has organised online activities during half term with other leading groups

As part of their Winter Programme, the new charity ‘Cumbernauld Together’, in partnership with St Lucy’s Youth Zone has launched February Funfest and it runs over the half-term weekend from - Friday 5 to Tuesday 9t February 2021.
Cumbernauld Together’s Vice chairman Kenny McGeachie said: “Both groups are partnering with many amazing local groups and friends to bring virtual events into the living rooms of local families. 

 “Partners include Shakespeare Kids, Tae Kwon-do groups, gymnastic groups, Cumbernauld Colts, Starstruck Musical Theatre, and others. 

“A highlight of our programme is the virtual pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, a professional production hosted by a well-known TV personality. 

“Tickets are available for this on our Cumbernauld Together Facebook page and top-quality ‘goody bags’ will be given free to the first 100 families who sign-up. 

“Another highlight is some of our more mature residents have videoed themselves telling a bedtime story or singing a song for the young ones to join in, also broadcast on our Facebook page over the half-term weekend.

 “Our older generation are absolutely thrilled to be involved, especially when they feel they are helping entertain younger ones during lockdown.

“The February Funfest coincides with Children’s’ Mental Health Week  2021 and some of our activities and events focus on that theme too.  Covid-19 has hit our young people hard and we want to get them back together again, albeit virtually, for what would have been their half-term break, providing activities that they have asked for”
