Abronhill tuck in for charity

LAST Friday saw a Big Breakfast being held at Abronhill Bowling Club in aid of the “BOOBS” Breast Cancer appeal – an event which raised in excess of £500 for the charity.

The event was organised by Mags Butler, whose twin sister has twice been hit by, and recovered, from breast cancer. The day became a great community event within Abronhill with various individuals and groups attending to enjoy a truly sumptuous breakfast or just sit with a cup of tea and home baking to catch up on gossip with old friends.

As well as the breakfast there was a prize raffle held and Mags would like to thank all the individuals who donated prizes. In addition local companies pitched in to donate prizes and a big thanks go to 13 Hair and Beauty, Asda, Tesco, F. A. Munro Opticians, Pets At Home, J. and K. Hair and Beauty, Ruffles, and the Castlecary House Hotel for their generosity and community minded spirit.

Mags added: “The day became a great social event as well as raising money for this most worthy of causes. I have to thank all the individuals, family and friends, who gave most generously of their time and donations of prizes, home baking etc to make the day such a success. As a member of Abronhill Bowling Club I would also like to give a big thanks to the club for giving me the use of their premises and facility to have held the event within. It was a fantastic day which saw a lot of hard work put in by many and I hope it is a day which will be remembered both for its enjoyment by those who attended and for the cause of breast cancer that it raised over £500 towards”.
