All geared up for Civic Week

WITH the opening parade less than a month away, final preparations are being made for Kilsyth Civic Week.

Auditions for the 'New Faces' show took place recently, with the high calibre of acts making it difficult for the judges to whittle the numbers down.

Lynda Jones, one of the show organisers, said: "We have a good mix for the show this year and hope as always the community will turn out to support the youngsters.

"The show will be in Kilsyth Academy on both nights this year so watch the local press for information on how to get tickets."

The closing date for the Poetry and Art competition is June 3. Entries can be submitted at Kilsyth Library.

This year's theme is "Fashion Through the Ages" and entrants must write which school and class they belong to on the back of their poem or painting. On closing Saturday, several competitions are being organised such as 'Design Your Own Outfit' and a fancy dress event.

Registration will take place at 1.30pm on the day, so get designing and you can be part of the fashion show.
