The Antonine Arms, Main Street, has been named this year's CAMRA Glasgow and West of Scotland Branch Pub of the Year for Dunbartonshire.

The CAMRA organisation promote high-quality real ale and the pubs serving them throughout the UK.

Kathy Bowman and partner Andy Odysseos, who only took over the running of the alehouse last December, are over the moon with the honour.

Kathy said: "The representative from the Glasgow group came out to tell us in person that we had won. I don't know if he thought we would just fall over when we heard - we just about did!

"We were just baffled, it came completely out of nowhere. We're so pleased and very excited about it. It's such a big achievement for us because before we took over here we had no experience with ale, well, except drinking it!"

She added: "They've come out to see what we're doing on a few occassions because they know we're out here and serving real ale and had a couple of festivals. We enjoy it and something like this is really inspiring."
